Considering Kybella? Here's What to Expect
You’ve been working out faithfully. You’re sticking to your diet and eating only healthy foods.
You have followed this routine for months now, but you’re still frustrated because every time you look in the mirror, you still see a double chin looking back at you. There’s little, if any, progress in reducing the fat beneath your chin.
You’re frustrated and at a dead end, but thanks to advances in cosmetic treatments, you and the 67% of people who are bothered by excess fat under their chin have hope.
Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable used to reduce the amount of fat in the area under your chin, and it’s available at a provider near you. If you’re interested in Kybella injections, here’s what you can expect, courtesy of the expert team at Skin Med Spa.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is composed of deoxycholic acid, which is a substance your body naturally produces in your digestive system. The acid helps to break down fats, so they can easily be digested.
In terms of aesthetic procedures, Kybella is used to eliminate excess fat underneath your chin. When it’s injected, it goes to work destroying the fat cells in the area, so they can no longer store fat.
In one clinical trial, Kybella was more than 82% effective in eliminating excess fat and creating a slimmer profile beneath the chin.
How does the procedure work?
Be sure your Kybella injections are done by a trained healthcare professional — if done incorrectly, it can also destroy other cells. At our med spa, your treatments are performed by one of the Board-Certified Practitioners Barbara and Michael. This is a nonsurgical procedure, so it doesn’t require much preparation beyond washing your face.
Your provider will numb the treatment area and then give you 20-30 (and possibly up to 50) injections. Side effects may include some swelling, bruising, and redness, which should go away within a few days.
Your treatment plan will depend on your particular situation, but most patients require more than one treatment (possibly up to six), with at least six weeks between treatments. You won’t see immediate results, but be patient — in clinical studies, many people begin to see results after two to three treatments.
The fat cells will be permanently destroyed, but over time, you may begin to see the results of new fat deposits. If this occurs, you can always undergo more Kybella injections.
