Ready to Ditch the Double Chin?
A survey was presented at a meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology a few years ago to show the impact of a double chin on people’s self-perception.
The results were startling: Almost half of the people surveyed were bothered by the appearance of the area under their skin and thought it negatively impacted their appearance.
If you fit in this group and you’re finally ready to ditch the double chin, board-certified practitioners Barbara Kowalczyk and Michael Fressola and their staff at Skin Med Spa can give you the results you’re seeking. Here are three treatments that could make a difference for you:
Kybella
Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable designed specifically to reduce the area of excess fat known as a double chin. It contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, which already occurs naturally in your body — it’s used to help your digestive system break down fats for absorption into your body.
When Kybella is injected into the area under your chin, the deoxycholic acid disrupts the integrity of the fat cells, so they can no longer accumulate fat. As this happens, your chin loses some of its fullness, resulting in a trimmer, more defined profile.
Though every situation is different, most people need two to four treatment sessions (each one takes 15-20 minutes) to achieve the best results.
truSculpt iD
Another outstanding treatment for double chins is called truSculpt iD®. It’s an innovative body contouring system that uses radiofrequency energy to eliminate targeted fat cells.
The energy targets the deeper layers of your skin, heating the fat cells until their structure is so compromised that they can no longer store fat. The fat already in the cells drains away and is eliminated from your body through your lymphatic system.
We can absolutely target your double chin area with this system. Optimal results will take up to 12 weeks to be apparent and may require multiple treatments.
Chin fillers
If your double chin is caused by sagging skin in your throat and neck area, dermal fillers can be used as a treatment method as well. Fillers such as Juvéderm are injected into drooping or sagging skin to fill out the loss of collagen in those areas.
They also serve to tighten the loose skin, causing the skin to become firmer and look younger as new collagen is produced in response to the injections. This will give you a tighter-looking and more defined jaw and chin area.
