Restore Your Eyes' Attractive, Youthful Look with Our Plasma Pen
In these days of COVID-19, you can’t leave home without that one necessary accessory: a mask. Since we’re all covering the lower half of our faces, our attention is naturally drawn more than ever before to what’s just above the mask — our eyes.
With so much focus on the eyes, now is the perfect time to restore their youthful, attractive look. At Skin Med Spa, we have found that one of the best ways to do this is with a plasma pen.
This nonsurgical treatment can bring out the beauty of your eyes while protecting you from more invasive procedures. Here’s how it works.
What is the plasma pen?
As a cutting-edge treatment, the Plaxel plasma pen uses true plasma technology to revitalize your appearance by tightening, restructuring, and smoothing out your skin. When it comes to your eyes, we use the plasma pen to improve the skin laxity of your upper and lower eyelids without having to resort to surgical blepharoplasty. (Other good treatment areas include the face, hands, and knees.)
The plasma pen works by targeting fibroblast cells in the dermal layer of your skin (just under the surface). These cells produce proteins called collagen and elastin that keep your skin strong, firm, and supple. As you age, your body produces less and less of these proteins, so the function of the plasma pen is to restart the production of both collagen and elastin.
What should I expect?
The tip of the pen never actually touches the target area of your skin that needs treatment. The pen releases a plasma current, creating a tiny tear in the surface of your skin. This intentional damage activates your fibroblast cells to stimulate production of more collagen and elastin while breaking down other skin proteins and contracting cells to tighten your skin.
In the case of your eyelids, the skin tightening will lead to less eyelid drooping, giving you a younger, more attractive look even as you wear a mask.
Getting treatment with the plasma pen is not a cure-all for rejuvenating your look, but it may delay your need for more invasive procedures that would require much more downtime and recovery time.
